Greenvale buys new uranium project in NT’s Arunta region

ASX-listed Greenvale Energy has enhanced its Australian energy portfolio with the acquisition of a new uranium project in the eastern Arunta region of the Northern Territory. Greenvale will acquire an 80% interest in EL33621 and EL33692, comprising the Tobermorey uranium project, from project vendor Gempart.

Saudi Arabia's Manara Minerals is closing in on a deal to buy a minority stake in Canadian miner First Quantum Minerals' Zambian copper and nickel assets, three people familiar with the details told Reuters. Manara, a joint venture between Saudi Arabian mining company Ma'aden and its $925 billion Public Investment Fund, is in advanced talks to acquire between 15% and 20% equity in the Zambian assets, the sources said.
Aurum-Mako merger creates West African gold firm

Global economic freedom declines again, S Africa's gains inconsequential

Global economic freedom declined for the third year in a row, the yearly ‘Economic Freedom of the World’ report published by Canadian-headquartered Fraser Institute shows. “After decades of slow but steady increases, global economic freedom peaked in 2019 but has declined in each of the three years since then, which hasn’t happened since we began measuring economic freedom more than 25 years ago,” explains Fraser Institute senior fellow Matthew Mitchell, who also contributed to the report.

The  South African mining industry is diversifying from the gold mining era to an industry with a diverse range of mineral resources that include platinum group metals (PGMs), chrome, manganese, gold, vanadium, nickel, and rare earths considered critical for the cleaner world economy, Mineral Resources and Petroleum Minister Gwede Mantashe pointed out at the twenty-sixth China Mining Conference taking place in Tianjin. Mantashe drew the attention of China Natural Resources Minister Wang Guanghua to recent studies that highlight South Africa's remaining attractiveness as a mining investment destination.
Uranium concentrate GoviEx demonstrates high recovery rates using simple heap leaping for Muntanga project

TSX-V-listed GoviEx Uranium has completed an extensive metallurgical testwork programme at Mintek, in South Africa, which aimed to demonstrate the viability of the company’s heap leach process for the Muntanga project, in Zambia. The testwork has proven that the main deposits of Muntanga and Dibbwi East, which account for 80% of the measured and indicated resources, achieved uranium recoveries of 90% or better.
