As part of its ambition to achieve Landlord Scope 1 and 2 Net-Zero Carbon by 2030 as well as implement sustainable practices, property investment company Liberty Two Degrees (L2D) has successfully implemented portfolio-wide energy management improvements, says sustainability lead specialist Brian Unsted. With this in mind, the company boasts total installed solar capacity of 13 MW across its portfolio, compared to 3 MW in 2022. The company also met its 2023 target of sourcing 3% of its portfolio’s energy baseload from renewable-energy sources, achieved through implementing onsite solar energy production.

CFAO South Africa (SA) subsidiary Toyota Tsusho Africa and Ogihara Thailand have started construction of a new R1.2-billion plant that will produce vehicle body parts for Toyota South Africa Motors (TSAM). The JV will be known as Ogihara SA, with the plant located in the Dube TradePort (DTP), in Durban.

State-owned Transnet Group chief business development officer Yolisa Kani has said calls for applications for private train operators wanting to access the freight rail network are likely to open early next year. Reform of rail legislation means that it is likely that private train operators will be able to access the rail network by April 2025, she noted during a stakeholder engagement event hosted by Transnet alongside the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on September 5.
